TERM #2 Assignments

Website update: to include more photos, video etc. to add to your web portfolio. ( 10 marks)

Collage Photo: 9 shots relating to each other...put into the collage program on Pixlr ( 10 marks)

Portraits: 10 guy/10 girl for a total of 20 ...make sure you are getting in some full body  portraits. (20 marks)

Video:(criteria on advanced site) Due Tues. Jan. 14 in class  ( 50 marks)

Photo Art Assignment: Using your own photographs to create art. 1 or more pieces (20 marks)

Photo Book: Paid by you....A collection of your best work in photos. 20 pages minimum, need to include a bio (20 marks)

Light Photo Shoot : 5 shots  (10 marks)

Downtown shoot: ( see assignment on advanced site) (20 marks)

MAGAZINE COVER: (10 marks)

CREATIVE SHOT: 1-2  shots (10 marks) 

TILE GEL TRANSFER (10 marks)

WORK HABITS (10 marks)

Total = 200 marks

Term 1 Assignments

The following is a list of assignments for term 1.

Skatepark Movement: Students should focus on movement at the skatepark. If you missed this shoot, your shoot should still focus on movement. 10 shots = 10 marks

Website: Students should create a platform to showcase their photography. For term 1 students are expected to have a photo of themselves, a biography at least one paragraph in length and at least 30 photos on to their website. 20 marks

Theme shoot: Students should choose a particular topic that they are interested in and experiment with a number  of exceptional photos around this area. 20 shots = 20 marks

Macros: Student are attempting to capture some extraordinary close-up shots. They were to take 15 colour and 5 black and white shots. After getting the macros, students were to create a slideshow set to music. 20 shots =20 marks  10 marks for the video total 30 marks

Car shoot: This shoot involves shooting 20 shots focused on the antique cars which visited us  a few weeks back. 20 shots = 20 marks

Downtown shoot: We will be heading out on the afternoon of Thurs. Nov. 7 to take photos in downtown Courtenay... assignment TBA marks 20

Video paragraph: This is a rough outline of what you will be doing for your video project ...as many details as possible with rough photo ideas would be beneficial for you and for me. 10 marks

Total marks + 130 marks

Good-bye to graduating photographers

Fri. June 21 is my absolute last day for you to get any work handed in. My marks are due the following week. I will be starting to evaluate all work today. Secondly, do not forget to get out with your camera and take some great pictures this summer. The world is at your fingertips!

It has been a solid year in Photography this year with some great work produced. Sadly, I will miss my graduating photographers, we have been together since the program began 4 years ago....I hope you keep me as a contact on Flickr so I can continue to enjoy your work and comment on it. If students have further thoughts on how to improve the course, fire me off an email with your suggestions. I am eager to make some changes to improve things. Have a good summer, and a productive future. It has been a pleasure getting to know you all.

Assignments Term 4

Video: Beauty in a Second: 1 min. video capturing beautiful moments in time, each shot is 1 sec long. Due the end of May to be presented in class. (50 marks)
Photo Art: 4 pieces of art from your photography. These might include: gel transfers, stencil art from a photo, photoart using filters, or a photograph turned into a piece of art Presented to the class/handed in (20 marks)
Photo Careers: Complete a one page report on Photography as a career including info on salary.You may want to do this in interview form. Typed and handed in (15 marks)
Theme shoot: Any 10 shots you choose connected to a theme of some kind, posted on Flickr
Photobook: Choose your best 20-30 shots using Blurb (can be found on the word program in rm 506 or download it onto your computer at home, or use London Drugs or the Mac Photobook program ...You may choose to do a calendar  instead of the book...You must pay for this project (20 marks) Due mid June
